India's Big Daddy Customs gets Creative with Tata Sumo Grande

The blue-colored gem you're looking at in these pictures is the XENON concept based on the Indian market Tata Sumo Grande crossover and it was made by local replica and coach-builder Big Daddy Customs.

In contrast to the two previous models from Big Daddy Customs that we've shown you on these pages and which include a Chevrolet Optra-based replica of the 1967 Ford Mustang Eleanor and a Tata Safari-based clone of the Range Rover Evoque, the XENON is a unique project commissioned by Tata itself.

A Visual Comparo Between the 2014 Corvette Stingray and the 2009 Concept Model

Concept cars fall into two basic categories: those that are a flight of fantasy and which you instinctively know will never ever make it past the motor show floors (e.g. the Peugeot Onyx), and those that preview an actual car that’s still some years down the road.

Even in the second scenario, the designers' main objective is to create a concept to wow the crowds at auto shows. They may think inside certain parameters, but they don’t really have to worry about “little” things such as legislation concerning the height of the headlights or pedestrian impact protection. That is what engineers are for, right?

A Photo Tour of the 2013 Brussels International Auto Show

The North American International Auto Show (NAIAS) from January 19 to 27 is no doubt the most important event for the auto industry in January.

However, it's not the first international auto show of the year, as that distinction goes to the 2013 Auto Salon in Brussels, Belgium, which was open to the public from January 11 to 20.

If you're looking for major world premieres, you won't find any, as the European auto industry is keeping its newest and brightest goods for the upcoming Geneva Salon in March, but if for whatever reason you want to get your dose of European rides in both production and concept forms, there's a gallery waiting for you right past the virtual jump.

At Last! Awesome Flying DeLorean is here to Take Us Back to the Future! [w/Videos]

When Marty McFly and "Doc" Brown took us for a second cinematic trip back and forth into time with their late 1980s flick "Back to the Future Part II", many of us who were youngsters then, dreamed that by 2015, cars would indeed fly.

We may have grown up, but the kid that lives deep down inside us would still like to believe. Evidently, we're not alone, which brings us to Matthew Riese from San Francisco, who wanted to build the next best thing, a DeLorean-themed hovercraft.

Ford Atlas Named Autoweek's Most Significant Detroit Auto Show Debut, What Do You Say?

The new Ford Atlas Concept, which previews the future of America's best-selling pickup truck for the past 36 years and the best-selling vehicle overall for 31 straight years, the F-150, has been named by the editors of Autoweek magazine, the "Most Significant vehicle of the 2013 North American International Auto Show (NAIAS)".

Bob Gritzinger, Autoweek executive editor, explains why:

“The Atlas Concept is clearly Most Significant winner for the things you don’t see, like hidden aerodynamic improvements and weight savings from high-strength steel and interior parts, like thinner seats. Those things add up to significant fuel savings for pickup trucks down the road. A next-generation EcoBoost with Auto Start-Stop technology also signals why Atlas is a real game changer.”

New Audi RS7 Sportback Envisioned as a Ferocious Group B Rally Car

The spanking new Audi RS7 Sportback is one of our favorite cars from the ongoing Detroit Auto Show.

With a sleek-looking body and a masculine 4.0-liter twin-turbocharged V8 pumping out more than 550-horses to all four wheels, what's not to like? Well, you could say its price tag, which will certainly be more than the $78,800 Audi commands for the 420hp S7 Sportback, but that's another story.

Honda Surprises Canadians with World Premiere of New GEAR Concept at Montreal Auto Show

Being that the Montreal International Auto Show takes place the same week as the Detroit Auto Show, we can't say that we were expecting any world premieres, but Honda surprised us today with the unveiling of a new concept car named GEAR at the Canadian event.

The Japanese carmaker stated that the GEAR is a fresh study for a sub-compact (think Ford Fiesta) model aimed at young, urban, Gen-Y lifestyles. It added that the concept was inspired by fixed-gear bicycles (hence the name) and that it is "simple and utilitarian, but also customizable, connected and full of personality."

In 2013, the show opens its doors on January 14 for the media and on the 19th for the public, who can visit the Cobo Center until the 27th and view all the new models on display.

Perhaps the most eagerly anticipated premiere is that of the all-new, seventh-generation Corvette. China's GAC Group Shows Off its Goods, Announces Chrysler Tie-Up at 2013 NAIAS

Towards the end of the previous decade, we remember several Chinese automakers making their way to the Detroit Auto Shows vowing to begin selling cars in the United States. Unless we missed something, that never happened.

At this year's event, the only carmaker from China is the GAC Group (Guangzhou Automobile Group Co. Ltd), which brought along three vehicles, including the Trumpchi sedan that's loosely based on the Alfa Romeo 166, the Trumpchi GS5 SUV and the electric-powered E-jet concept saloon you see in the live shots from Detroit.

It may not be a standalone brand yet, as reports have suggested, but the 500 family is nevertheless expanding rapidly with five-door minivan and crossover offsoots.

That’s not to say that Chrysler’s Italian partner has left the standard, three-door 500 alone: after introducing the 160HP 500C Abarth and the all-electric 500e at LA last November, today it unveiled two design concepts at the 2013 North American International Auto Show.
